As usual, the first official entrant gets to pick their own race # (except #1) and this year gets a Super Special Prize.  Super.

(First entrant is determined by postmark or online timey thingy.)

New News (not like that old news down there)

The mad race for the first official entrant was over about as soon as it began, Bob Bourgeois is IT.  He didn't want the race to fill up without him, bless his heart.

  NEWZ FLASH!!        NEWZ FLASH!!

Yes, rumor has it that the Holy Toledo was voted 2007 USAT-SMW SMALL TRIATHLON OF THE YEAR!!  (I guess it's safe to say that Sperrier didn't get a vote).

Anyhoo, I didn't even know there was such an award or I would have done the Louisiana thing and paid people to vote for us, but this is even better 'cause it's FREE!   We're honored that anyone who survived our ordeal would still be coherent enough to vote for us, and would do so.

SO...WHEN TO HAVE THE RACE????

Answered!!!

Negotiations should be finalized this week as to when the park is available in the late Sept.-early Oct. timeframe, as well as reserving a block of rooms at the Cypress Bend Resort for the sissies that can't/won't camp out ("It's too cold" "There are mosquitoes" "We have newborn triplets"  wah-wah-wah, blah-blah-blah).

I know that there's an LSU game the last weekend of Sept., and there are a couple of large Tri's in Texas the first weekend of Oct., and there are lots of other reasons not to show up, but we're trying to find what works best for everyone (okay, it's really what works best for me, but I will consider the opinions of others, particularly paying customers).

For those doing IMFLA, this timeframe would do wonders for your fitness, race Sat and hit the hills again on Sunday a.m.  I knoweth, I used to do this for a living.

Please e-mail with comments.  Here are a few unsolicited notes:

Bobo,
It doesn't matter when you have the race, it just matters that you have the race. I did the race last year and it was far and away the best tri I have ever participated in. I'm in for whenever you want to have the race.
Thanks,
Scott Guidry

Bobo,

This sucks… I always look forward to bring new people to this race to suffer…  I hope to see you and the fam this year at the HOLY T gauntlet.  I think it may rain on Oct 4st…(SLOP FEST 2)

Later from you Holy T loyal fan,

Chad Boudreaux of Belle Chasse,la

BOBO,

The show must go on. I don't care when you have the race, I will be there.
I do like the event being the first race of the year but now it will be a
good finale. Keep us posted on the website. The more epic the better.
Why not a January race or February?

RACE INFO...INFO de la RACE-O...Da FO' ONE ONE...

The 5rd annual Holy Toledo Triathlon Challenge is a true "challenge", and probably not the best choice for your first triathlon (although we had one tri-virgin in '04...silly, silly girl).  It's also not for the Weak-Willed, Weak-Legged, or the Weak-Minded.  This is not the Tri-For-Fun Mini Sprint, BUT... it IS DO-ABLE for any determined athlete who wants to test their mettle.  No time limits, so take your time (you won't be alone, and we'll  save you plenty of food & beverages...maybe).

It features all the scenic fun the Holy T is known for, and more.  The swim course, transition area, and post-race shenanigans will  be held at Cypress Bend State Park (not Cypress Bend Resort), so sadly the refreshing 400 yard post-swim trot up the golf course from '04 is no more.
